"Picasso at the Lapin Agile"

The box office is now open for Lakes Area Community Theatre’s production of the award-winning, hit stage comedy, "Picasso at the Lapin Agile", written by comedian/actor/playwright Steve Martin. LACT concludes it’s 15th season with the winner of the 1996 New York Outer Critics' Circle Awards for "Best Play" and "Best Playwright". Since its world premiere at the Steppenwolf Theatre in 1993, "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" has gone on to international acclaim.

"Picasso at the Lapin Agile", set in a bohemian bistro, the "Lapin Agile" (which loosely translates as the "nimble rabbit"), is located in the heart of 1904 Paris, where it is said many artists and scientists would congregate. Steve Martin's play revolves around an imaginary meeting between a passionate Pablo Picasso and a fiery Albert Einstein, both heartbeats away from setting the world ablaze with ideas that will change the world and define the twentieth century. Picasso and Einstein, on the threshold of fame, vie for the attentions of a young lady and for each others respect in an hilarious battle of ideas about painting, probability, lust, and the future of the world.

Director Michael Felton, is thrilled to be finally bringing this tour de force Steve Martin play to the lakes area. Audiences are sure to embrace this sharply written and incredibly witty play.
